The basis for the determination of the fire class according to EN 13501 are tests with the radiant panel test device (EN ISO 9239-1). The health-related evaluation according to DIBt is mainly based on the test chamber method for construction products.

The Textiles & Flooring Institute GmbH (TFI) is accredited by the European Union as Notified Body (notification no. 1658).

The Textiles & Flooring Institute GmbH operates as testing laboratory and certifying body on behalf of the CARPET-QUALITY-CLUB e.V.  

The product certification is performed according to a defined testing scheme mainly based on the testing of the materials used, the resistance to wear and the change in appearance.

The certification of the products is performed according
to a fixed testing scheme which is primarily based on
the analysis of emissions and harmful substances.

For many years now, the TFI performs trainings for industy, commerce and trade in the field of textile floor coverings. From 2003 to  2006, 1,600 persons have been trained within the scope of a qualification measure for the commerce.
